| York Way Play Area Proposals |
|
We are still campaigning about the proposals for the "redundant" drying area
- land adjacent to 1-11 York Way. As you will remember, the original planning proposal for a under 8s Play Area and 8-15s Football & Basketball Court was WITHDRAWN by Housing on 29th October 2001. RBK Housing seem to think that the plans were refused. THEY ARE WRONG ! Proposals were partly resurrected by Housing in February, with a meeting held at CCC Sports Hall, where Residents were consulted PROPERLY for a change on their views. Most people were more concerned about fencing and security doors than they were about a kiddy play park. Sadly, RBK will not do anything about security doors, despite an arsonist attack in one block (13-27 York Way), because that funding would have to come from another budget. Hand rails along paths, both front and back, have been suggested and accepted by Estate Management - indeed some improvements are already underway. Fencing off of the currently unfenced garden areas in Garrison Lane will also go ahead. Within this fenced area, Residents will be given rotary clothes lines. We have also been promised Estate Maps at each end of York Way. Let's take bets on how long they will survive - visit our Guest Book and leave your views ! Residents will be consulted by RBK Housing about the "redundant" drying area - this will happen by post or possibly a "door knock" exercise. Don't hold your breath over this one - it is dragging its feet . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Updated 3rd May 2002 ? Guess What ?
RBK Housing seem to have given up over this one. When I raised the matter of washing line posts and fences at a recent Estate Inspection (15th April 2002) I was told that things were moving along. RBK probably needs a figurative (or literal) dose of senna or Ex-Lax to really get them moving. Perhaps then they could "pass a motion" at full Council ..... They are full of sh*t after all ! I will keep hassling them - Residents deserve to know what is happening on their Estate and to have RBK Housing keep its promises. (Ok, Ok I know THAT would be a first !) We will probably have to wait until someone trips and breaks a limb before we get the handrails we suggested. See you in Ward 10. |
